Jokowi to Inaugurate National MSMEs Day in Solo

Losergeek.org, Jakarta – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo is scheduled to inaugurate the National Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Day in Solo City as initiated by the Cooperatives and MSMEs Ministry on Saturday, August 12, 2023. The celebration will be marked with the National MSMEs Day Expo 2023 which will be held in Pura Mangkunegaran Solo on August 10-13, 2023.

The exhibition will be participated by hundreds of MSMEs across Indonesia. The National MSMEs Day Expo 2023 will have various activities such as an exhibition, forum and workshop, GoFood culinary adventure, National Road Safety Week, and IMI Road to MSMEs. Several artists will also perform at the event.

The Head of MSMEs Development of Solo’s Cooperatives, MSMEs, and Tourism Department Rini Indriyani said the theme of the exhibition is “Transformation of Future MSMEs”. The theme reflected the government’s intention to strengthen the role of MSMEs in Indonesia’s economic development.

“Indonesia has more than 64 million MSMEs actors who are able presently able to survive. Despite the pandemic and global economic uncertainty, the MSMEs ecosystem in Indonesia is able to grow and adapt to the situation at hand,” Rini said to reporters in Solo on Wednesday, August 9, 2023.

Furthermore, Rini said that MSMEs actors also faced several challenges such as declining profits, disrupted supply availability, and capital issues. Despite the challenges, the MSMEs sector was able to contribute to economic growth with 61.07% of GDP.

Lastly, Rini said the government has carried out several efforts to boost and maintain the MSMEs ecosystem in Indonesia. “From upstream to downstream development, venture capital, ease of access to business permits, and distribution chain,” added Rini.
